WHAT IS A HOUSE CONCERT?

A House Concert is an intimate setting where artists have a sort of “one on one” private concert in a home or intimate environment, where the focus is directly between artist and audience. For a reasonable fee, the artist mingles, answers questions and plays a couple of sets.  Sometimes there is a “pot luck” dinner, other times food is provided (tips are welcomed) or items are for sale.  Of course, there are always artists’ CDs to purchase so come ready to for goodies! This is an amazing opportunity to meet some of your musical icons face to face in a what is becoming a new, conceptual trend for folk/rock/musical venues.

ABOUT JOE CRAVEN

Folk Alliance Performer of the Year for 2009, Joe Craven does it all.  With Joe’s added commitment to the folk process, he brings mandolin, fiddle, and percussion par excellence – plus a few added stories and songs – to what amounts to an amazing show. For almost 17 years, JOE CRAVEN was the highly respected multi-instrumentalist with the David Grisman Quintet.  Joe held a challenging post as Grisman’s percussionist, fiddler.  He sometimes swatted backbeats and traded licks on mandolin next to Grisman – at times all within one tune – but Joe enjoyed the workout. He’s made a wide range of music with a wide range of artists including Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garciajazz violinist Stéphane Grappelli, The Alison Brown Quartet, Maria Muldaur, Vassar Clements, Psychograss, Rob Ickes, The Persuasions, and many others.  Joe has performed music & sound effects on a wide variety of recordings including commercials, soundtracks, computer games and made contributions to several Grammy nominated projects.
